Hoarder in Denial

Had a conversation with a woman over the weekend, we'll call her Bob, regarding hoarders. You see, I was explaining to Gmother what a hoarder is. I said "People like 'Bob' who collect too much junk and don't throw anything away" 'Bob' said "No, I watch Hoarders, and those people don't throw their trash away. I throw away trash. I'm not a hoarder". Sound logic. Then I had to carefully point out that the storage units and garage full of stuff would prove otherwise. Also felt the need to point out that the throwing away of trash is not the only indicative sign of hoarding. That perhaps- just perhaps- we should not qualify behavior based only on whether we are as bad as the people on tv. Because when we live in a world of Animal Cops, Toddlers & Tiaras, and Celebrity Rehab, society will surely plummet even further into the depths of Hell, which will surely set the stage for Palin to get elected. And I'm too young to face the Rapture right now.
